Obituary for Rita Sue Alkire
Rita Sue Alkire, 67, of Weston passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston following a 7 year battle with ALS. She was born in Weston on February 27, 1952: daughter of Paul Alkire and Sona (Minnich) Alkire of Jane Lew, WV.
Rita is survived by one son: Jonathan Paul Eizenberg of St. Louis, MO and three grandchildren: Abigail Eizenberg, Netanel Eizenberg and Aviel Eizenberg. She is also survived by one brother: John Alkire, Sr. and wife Selene of Jane Lew, two sisters: Jeanne Sherry and husband Walter of Galena, OH and Julie Alkire of Weston, one nephew: John Alkire, Jr. of Weston, one great-niece: Sloanne Alkire , two great-nephews: Jake Alkire and J. P. Alkire and she was still close with her son’s father: Zvi Eizenberg. She is also survived by two special friends: Janet McIntyre of Jane Lew and Delores McVay of Weston. Rita was preceded in death by one infant daughter: Amy Eizenberg.
Ms. Alkire was a teacher with the Lewis County Board of Education. She was a graduate of St. Patrick Catholic School with the class of 1970. She received a Master’s degree in Education from West Virginia University. She was a member of the West Virginia Education Association and the Lewis County Education Association. Rita enjoyed working in her flower garden and loved cats and dogs.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Monday, February 3, 2020 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. from the Hardman Family Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating.
