Obituary for Margaret Jean Bruffey (Brown)

Margaret Jean Bruffey, 93, of Ireland went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 30, 2019 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Ireland, WV on December 25, 1926: daughter of the late Oren Dixon Brown and Angela (O'Dell) Brown. Mrs. Bruffey was married for 64 years to Joel Hornor Bruffey, who preceded her in death on January 5, 2010.

Mrs. Bruffey is survived by one daughter: Judy Ann Wince of Marietta, OH, two sons: Joel G. Bruffey of Roanoke and John M. Bruffey and wife Cathy of Ireland, five grandchildren: Jodi Murthy of Charleston, Jeanette Heath and husband Mike of Roanoke, Jennifer Short and husband Eddie of Buckhannon, Jeremy Bruffey and wife Megan of Weston and Cassandra Culver and husband Ben of Daniel Island, SC and 10 great-grandchildren: Jeevan, Tejas and Shanti Muthy, Marinna and Madison Heath, Brittani Taylor, Trey and Trevor Short, Kellen and Vivian Bruffey. She is also survived by one sister: Joan Hudson of Rockledge, FL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband,Joel, Margaret was preceded in death by one brother: Charley Brown, four sisters: Maxine Wines, Irene Johns, Lois Beales and Dixie Thompson, one daughter-in-law: Patricia Bruffey and one son-in-law: William Wince.

Mrs. Bruffey was an owner of Bruffey Service Station for 20 years and Bruffey Trucking for 50 years. She was a graduate of Walkersville High School and attended Kent State Universty. During WWII, Margaret was proud to be one of Rosie the Riveters in Akron, OH. She was also proud to participate in the Irish Spring Festival where she would decorate her lawn and had served as Queen. Margaret was a Methodist by faith.

Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 2-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Jay Burkhart officiating. Interment will follow services in Lewis County Memorial Gardens of Weston, WV.
