Obituary for Kendell Leon Moody

Kendell Leon Moody, 85, of Weston passed away Thursday, September 24th, 2020 at Colonial Place in Elkins, WV. He was born on October 3rd, 1934 in Weston, WV son of the late Dewey Lawrence Moody and Alice Pearl (West) Moody. He was joined in marriage on August, 31st 1952 to Joan (Cawthon) Moody who preceded him in death on January 15th, 2006.

Mr. Moody is survived by 1 daughter: Elizabeth Joan Brown and husband Dwayne of Weston, WV and 1 son: Kendell Leon Moody II and wife Donna of Weston, WV. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Kendell Leon Moody III, Edward Moody, Melanie Vanessa Moody, Joni Rockelle Heater, Mikel Edward Brown, and Aaron Jordan, 3 great-grandchildren: Bailey Jolee Moody, Jeffrey Alan Heater and Jacob Glen Heater, and several nieces and nephews. Kendell had a companion of 10 years, Janet Beckner, whom he cherished memories with later in life. In addition to his wife, Kendell was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Eugene Lawrence Moody, Edsel Hoover Moody and Austin Dewey Moody and 3 sisters: Irene Inez Moneypenny, Verna Eileen Everett and Alice Roberta King.

Mr. Moody was a retired owner and operator of Moody’s Home Sales and Service. Earlier in his working career, he worked as a welder at Bethlehem Steele in Baltimore, MD. He was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church of Weston. He was also a member of Weston Lodge #10 A.F.&A.M., Scottish and York Rite Bodies, Nemesis Shrine Temple of Parkersburg, WV and the Lewis County Shrine Club. Mr. Moody was a superb carpenter and fabricator and built towns to scale with model antique cars. He will be missed by all his family and friends.

Family and friends will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 North Main Avenue Weston, WV 26452 on Sunday, September 27th, 2020 from 1:00PM- 3:00PM. A private family funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, September 28th, 2020 at 1:00PM with Reverend Dwayne Brown officiating. Interment will follow services at Lewis County Memorial Gardens of Weston, WV with Weston Masonic Lodge #10 A.F. & A.M. conducting graveside rites.
