Obituary for Helen Marie "Dot" Butler (McHenry)

Helen Marie “Dot” Butler, 76, of Locust Avenue Weston went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Weston on March 20, 1943: daughter of Elmer Warren McHenry and step mother: Eileen and their children: Shirley and Paula and Stella (Lamb) McHenry Lawrence and step father Tom and family. On June 25, 1961, Dot married Leon Clark “Butch” Butler, who preceded her in death on April 1, 1990.

Mrs. Butler is survived by four loving children: Debbie Radcliff and companion: Chester Floyd, Carol Snyder and husband Lane, and Pam Lewis and husband: Stanley all of Weston and Brenda Ash and husband Bruce of Volga, WV, 8 grandchildren: Amie Smith, Bill Snyder(Giselle), Kelsey Snyder (Devon), Amy Arbogast, Kayla Bonnell (Jamie), Wesley Marsh (Lindsay), Nathan Crites (Catlyn) and Branson Crites, 14 great-grandchildren and Dot also raised one special nephew: David McHenry of Weston. She is also survived by one brother: Bill McHenry of Richmond, VA, one sister: Carol Bush of Port Deposit, MD and several nieces and nephews. Dot also had two furry companions: Monty, her dog and Stella, her cat. In addition to her parents and huband, Butch, Dot was preceded in death by one daughter and son-in-law: Linda Marie Marsh and husband Doug, one brother: Bud McHenry and four sisters: Evelyn McHenry, Mary Blake, Kate Hall and Ruth Talbott.

Mrs. Butler was a nursing assistant for Crestview Nursing Home, Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital and William A. Sharpe Hospital and also her final job was working as a healthcare assistant for Lewis County Senior Center. Dot enjoyed taking care of people. She was a graduate of Weston High School and a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church of Weston where she was in the choir.

Dot enjoyed reading and singing but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also fed and raised every kid that her children were friends with and will be missed by all whom she touched.

Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Saturday, December 28, 2019 from 3-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Brian Plum officiating.
