Obituary for Elsie I. Raybuck (Gum)

Elsie Irene Raybuck, 95, made her final journey home on January 17, 2020, to be reunited with husband Harold, the great love of her life. She passed away at home. She was born in Churchville, WV on July 6, 1924 to Aldo and Lottie Halterman Gum, the oldest of seven children.

She nurtured her family, she turned friends into kin, and she made a house a home. Elsie walked the footpath of her faith in the Lord. She was a dedicated member of Churchville United Methodist Church and served as a trustee for Snyder Cemetery Association.

Left to treasure her memory are son Ken Raybuck and daughter-in-law Sherrell, granddaughter Shannon Raybuck and partner Mike Taylor, granddaughter Jennifer Peace and husband Lee, grandson Josh Raybuck and great-granddaughters Lily Peace and Elsie Raybuck-Taylor. She is also survived by sisters Catherine ”Cricket” Crutchfield and Carol Marrison and brother Joe Gum and several nieces and nephews. Husband Harold Raybuck, infant son Freddie Raybuck, brothers Aldo Gum, Jr. and Charles Gum and sister Helen Curtis preceded her in death.

Elsie was small in physical stature, but she left a mighty wake in the lives of all who knew her.
