Obituary for Betty Jo Harris (Clingman)

Betty Jo Harris, 93, of Weston went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 19, 2020 following an extended illness. She was born in Kayford, WV on March 5, 1927: daughter of the late Forrest J. Clingman and Lillian G. (Gibson) Clingman. On September 27, 1947, she married Robert G. Harris, who preceded her in death on September 7, 1986.

Mrs. Harris is survived by four loving children: Michael E. Harris, Paul S. Harris (Cathy) of Buckhannon, Jodi Hepler (Tim) of Macedonia, OH and Melinda Drummond (Jason) of Weston and five grandchildren: Daniel R., Aaron G. and Aubrie L. Hepler, Amanda C. Harris and Tyler E. Drummond.

Mrs. Harris was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston. She was a graduate of East Bank High School in 1943 and West Virginia University in 1947 with a major in Music Education and a minor in English. She taught music and some English at Cabin Creek, Pineville, Jane Lew and Weston where she then retired in 1993.

Betty loved crossword puzzles and reading. She was a talented pianist and also played several other instruments. Betty was an avid WVU Football and Basketball fan. She was a true West Virginia Mountaineer through and through.

A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from Lewis County Memorial Gardens of Weston with Reverend Jim Martin and Reverend Bruce MacBeth officiating. Interment will follow services in the Harris Family plot. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Betty may be expressed at hardmanfamilyfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church 120 E. 3rd Street Weston, WV 26452.

Following the COVID 19 Pandemic, there will be a Celebration of Life Service at her church: St Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston.
